Hip Hop (MAGAZINE GENRE)

This genre commenced in the 1970s in the US. The rise of hip hop started within the African American youth in the Bronx, New York. When Block parties were popular the MCs would want use two turn tables to be able to create the new genre of music that was arising. Hip Hop is often referred to also as Rap music or some say that hip hop has elements of rap or vice versa. Many different sub genres have been created on the way for this genre. From the 1980s and early 90s the Golden Age of Hip Hop came about. Gangsta Rap was a subgenre which is still very influential in today’s music industry. Despite being violent. Gangsta Rap talked about the harsh reality of the lifestyles of the inner city black American Youths Their angry raps included a lot of explicit language, and the media attention this created helped their albums reach the top of the charts.
Many artists from that era include
NWA      Ice T
Tupac      The Notorious B.I.G
Eazy-E     Snoop- Dog
Eminem   50 Cent

Contemporary Hip Hop keeps evolving and new popular artist are in top charts but there are still many similarities to the hip hop from the early 90s. A lot of people still refer to hip hop as the one from the 90s and the popularity of it does not fall.
I have chosen this genre because I enjoy the history behind it and I like listening to many of the songs by the artist listed above.
I can see the similarities of then and now and many take the inspiration from then.
